Kate will always hold a special place in my heart. Her loving heart helped me to break free of so much that had tied me in knots all my life. Forever in your debt, Kate. Receive your reward now in heaven.

I miss Kate and I will never forget her. She has made a lasting difference to my life.
I think she was one of the most creative and also one of the most courageous people that I have got to know.
Her creativity showed itself in artistic things but also in her intense desire to help damaged people become whole people in mind body and spirit.
She showed courage and determination in exploring and trying out new ideas in therapeutic work, even in the face of difficulties.
She showed much courage in her last 2 years of life in particular as she faced the realities of dying.
I grieve with relatives and friends in your loss: she was indeed a treasure.
Alison.

I will really miss Kate, she helped me at a time I was so lost and broken and it was Kate that enabled me to put myself back together and get on with my life. I admired her courage and her tremendous skills as a counsellor, always encouraging me and raising my awareness. I will miss her a great deal. Our loss, heaven’s gain.
Regards to the family.

A few years ago, after not being in touch with Kate for a while, we were both amazed to find that we had each recently had major bowel surgery at about the same time. It is actually a horrendous operation and we were able to compare notes and follow each other’s progress. At first she did well and then came the devastating news that the cancer had returned and we all know what has happened since. Her courage in sharing so openly the realities of her advancing illness were something I have never witnessed before, and I have found it very humbling.
You hope that by visiting someone who is knowingly facing the end of their life, you will be able to brighten their day or bring them some comfort, but it was quite the other way round! I felt enormously blessed by the time I spent with Kate a few short weeks ago. We laughed and cried and prayed together – it was a precious time.
I will always remember her bright smile – so warm and welcoming – so genuine. One particular memory I like to think about, is the occasion of her 60th birthday at Adam and Caroline’s house. She looked stunning on that day! (in purple) That is how I want to remember her. And I think she enjoyed it so much too.
Now she has gone out of our sight and out of our reach, but she will stay in our hearts, and we will say, in the words of St Paul “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you (Kate), for your fellowship in the gospel, from the first day (we met) until now” Thank you so much, Lord, for letting Kate be part of my life.

I will miss Kate terribly. I knew her for …well, over 20 years. First when she came to my workshops, always bright, very keen, asking the awkward questions. I never knew anyone so determined to learn and improve as Kate. Then supervising her group work, and more recently we have been ‘art buddies’, talking about and doing mostly painting, but also ceramics together. We had very different styles and ideas, which was fun! Kate is one of the best – kindest, loving, most generous in all senses, talented – people I have ever met. I will miss you, darling.
Chantelle, you did a wonderfully loving thing in taking care of her at the end. I truly hope you realise that, and take pride in having done it.
If you want a hand clearing art stuff out, or there is anything else I can do please let me know.
Adam, look after Lily!

Merle (Jane) Fletcher says:
I met Kate when she was mu teacher in high school where she made a big difference in my life through her kindness and encouragement. I visited her after Adam’s birth on behalf of the school, did not get to see Adam as he was in the baby unit. I then spent time in the family when on leave from the army and eventually was taken in to the family when I left the army. Kate and I did not always see eye to eye but she and Roy were always there for me and made me part of the family. I treasure the recent visit and hold her dear in my heart. Merle
