Thought for the month of October

Magic Mommy Kisses

Each night I tuck you into bed
I brush my hand across your head
and in each tiny little fist
I place a magic mommy kiss.

Full of love and hope so bright
To keep you safely through the night,
Mommy kisses in your hand
To guide you off to slumberland.

If you should dream of monsters mean
Or witches with faces masked in green,
Of snakes that squeeze you oh-so-tight
Or darkness with no sign of light..

When nightmares hold you stiff with fear
A part of mommy still is near.
Just open up your hand and blow
One mommy kiss and nightmares go.

Self help :

Positive Self talk / Coping Thoughts Worksheet
Positive statements encourage us and help us cope through distressing
times. We can say these encouraging words to ourselves, and be our own
personal coach.  We have all survived some very distressing times, and we
can use those experiences to encourage us through current difficulties.
Examples of coping thoughts might be:
 Stop, and breathe, I can do this
 This will pass
 I can be anxious/angry/sad and still deal with this
 I have done this before, and I can do it again
 This feels bad, it’s a normal body reaction – it will pass
 This feels bad, and feelings are very often wrong
 These are just feelings, they will go away
 This won’t last forever
 Short term pain for long term gain
 I can feel bad and still choose to take a new and healthy direction
 I don’t need to rush, I can take things slowly
 I have survived before, I will survive now
 I feel this way because of my past experiences, but I am safe right now
 It’s okay to feel this way, it’s a normal reaction
 Right now, I am not in danger.  Right now, I’m safe
 My mind is not always my friend
 Thoughts are just thoughts – they’re not necessarily true or factual
 This is difficult and uncomfortable, but it’s only temporary
 I can use my coping skills and get through this
 I can learn from this and it will be easier next time
 Keep calm and carry on
Write down a coping thought or positive statement for each difficult or distressing
situation – something you can tell yourself that will help you get through.  Write them
down on a piece of card and carry it in your pocket or handbag to help remind you.

Thought for Summer

Just as the flowers relies on the insects to pollinate we look forward to our summer to recharge our batteries .So far the summer here has been damp and the sun has not shone as brightly as we may have hoped. How do you respond, with complaint ?Or do you embrace the season and adapt to natures changes and enjoy what is in front of you?

Thought for the month of May

Live in the moment

Nothing stays the same look at nature.

Too often we worry about the future and brood about the past.

It is the fear of what might be or what was that keeps us from being in the present.

Focus your energy on the present. in the present you are as alive as you can be.

What ever you are doing now give it your full attention .

See it,

Hear it

Touch it

Smell it

Taste it

Sense it.

Thought for the month of April

Easter Time

Easter is the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs.

coloured eggs

The first eggs given at Easter were birds eggs. These eggs were painted in bright colours to give them further meaning as a gift.

As chocolate became more wide spread in the 20th Century, a chocolate version of the traditional painted egg was developed. The size of the chocolate egg has grown over the years and is now more likely to be the size of an ostrich egg rather than a small birds egg.

But Easter means much more….

Easter is the oldest and the most important Christian Festival, the celebration of the death and coming to life again of Jesus Christ. For Christians, the dawn of Easter Sunday with its message of new life is the high point of the Christian year.

Quote:

“There is so much in the world for us all if we only have the eyes to see it, and the heart to love it, and the hand to gather it ourselves…Lucy Maud Montogomery” (1874-19-42)

Thought for the month of March

The Newness of spring.

Rosa our new addition (11 weeks). Watching her soaking up the newness of everything with pure fascination and pleasure, stimulates me to see the world with fresh eyes.  Looking out across the landscape noticing the changes. Taking in the sounds and the scents of spring. Be curious like a puppy. Curiosity allows possibilities. It keeps you fresh. It validates our existence.
